As an Occupational Health Nurse, you will apply knowledge of clinical occupational health nursing, regulations impacting the work environment, (OSHA, HIPAA, ADA), current legislation, environmental, safety and workforce health issues.  You will provide specific actions and programs for a range of routine to complex occupational health issues. You will serve as an expert in wellness and health promotion, disease prevention, as well as health and safety to the entire company.  Additional responsibilities of the Occupational Health Nurse will include:

  • Provides initial assessment, direct care, treatment and follow-up of work-related events using established protocols and procedures.
  • Performs health screenings and assessments and provides health-related counseling.
  • Ensures the confidentiality of health information.
  • Conducts workplace assessments and exposure follow-up, working with Klein safety professionals, plant management and HR staff.
  • Plans and implements wellness strategies for individuals and Klein locations and supports company-wide wellness initiatives.
  • Plans and implements workers compensation strategies, ensuring that injured employees get the best care available, following the laws of the state and supporting the business needs of Klein.
  • Serves as liaison to occupational health clinics, area physicians and hospitals.
  • Works with facility Safety and HR professionals to grow the safety culture.
  • Conducts health and safety training as needed and requested.
  • Makes referrals to the company's employee assistance programs.
  • Maintains OSHA compliance.
  • Leverages employee needs with business needs.
  • Serves as employee advocate/resource in utilization of benefits.



Associates degree in Nursing required with an LVN designation and five (5) years of nursing experience of which 3 years are in occupational health, urgent care or an ambulatory clinic. Bachelor's degree with an RN designation is preferred. Must possess current license to practice as an LVN or RN in the state of Texas. Certification in Occupational Health Nursing is preferred. Experience in health coaching, certification preferred.


Physical Demand Requirements:

Occasionally required to stand, walk or sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
